About our Company
Intermountain Regional Landfill (“IRL”) was established in 2011 to provide responsible and sustainable waste disposal services for residents in Salt Lake, Utah, and other neighboring counties.
IRL’s primary objective is ensuring our facility provides safe, efficient, and responsible disposal of trash, construction debris, and other non-hazardous materials for our municipal, commercial, and residential customers.
Our team is comprised of experienced industry professionals that know the value and importance of sharing their insights to continuously innovate and improve our operations. This has resulted in the development and operation of our state of the art, modern, disposal facility. IRL’s commitment to innovative, responsible, and safe waste disposal has helped IRL become one of the largest landfills in the state.
Our Management Team
IRL is locally owned and lead by a Management Team that has extensive experience in all aspects of the waste disposal industry and business community, from project development to site management. IRL’s Management Team works with its dedicated onsite Operations Team to run the state-of-the-art facility located in Fairfield Utah. The Management and Operations Team are supported by IRL’s skilled Accounting Team working in Draper where timely financials and analytics are created, providing insights that drive improvement and innovation throughout the company.
Rob Richards
President & General Manager
Rob Richards is the President & General Manager of the Intermountain Regional Landfill. As such, he leads all aspects of the company, including: corporate strategy, operations development, management and safety, strategic relationships, compliance sales, and marketing. Rob is a highly-respected, leading figure in the waste industry in Utah, with over 20 years of experience. He was a founding partner of Metro Waste, where he led the development of the successful commercial waste hauling company, two full-scale transfer station/recycling facilities, as well as the 500 acre Tekoi Landfill. Rob later acted as a District Manager for Waste Management in Utah County. He is a graduate of both the University of Utah and Brigham Young University. Rob resides in Utah County with his wife, Stephanie, and their four children.
Brian Alba
Operations Manager
Brian Alba is the Operations Manager of the Intermountain Regional Landfill. As such, he over sees daily operations of the landfill, including safety, operational best practices, future development, and compliance.
Brian comes to IRL with 15 years of civil and heavy highway construction. Brian has been with IRL from the day it opened. Brian resides in Salt Lake City with his Kelly and their four children.
